I would have to say that Georgia is the perfect place for a long weekend trip. It is a short plane ride from Chicago and you can’t beat the warm weather, great food, and even better friends. One of my amazing college friends (hey Rachel!) moved to Georgia after becoming an adult and getting married, so myself and two other lovely ladies made our way to Georgia to visit and have a quick, but fun filled weekend!

During our trip we stayed on Tybee Island which is a small island and city near Savannah, Georgia. It is known for its sandy beaches, which is where we spent most of our time. The water was as warm as a bath tub and there were constant dolphin sightings. We read, played volleyball, swam, and relaxed all day on the beaches. Tybee Island also had some magnificent sunsets that I would recommend everyone to go see.

After spending all day on the beaches we went to explore the town for some food and drinks. We ate at a place called the Crab Shack and it was delicious! This restaurant has excellent seafood, a full bar, great outdoor seating, fun decorations, and it even has an alligator pond. Be sure to get there early though because this place is a popular dinner spot!

After dinner we went to a bar the locals suggested called Tybee Time and let me tell ya, it was most definitely a time. This bar is an oceanfront sports bar with alcoholic slushies. You were allowed to mix flavors and it was the perfect adult beverage on a hot day. Tybee island also has a pier and pavilion that you can go socialize, relax, and go fishing on. We took our slushies there and enjoyed the beautiful ocean and sunset.

We all know drinking and driving is a terrible idea and that is why we called “Breezy Riders” to get us around the island after finishing our adult slushies. This is a very unique taxi service. The first taxi we got was a pink car with eyelashes and at the end of our night we received our own personal party bus! This service is available 24/7 and they will come get you from any part of the island, plus they were very personable. I wish I had taken a photo of the taxis, but I didn’t want to be a creep. So instead I took a selfie with their poster that was on the back of the bus (see below).

One of our days ended up cloudy and rainy so we drove in to the beautiful city of Savannah for the day. Savannah is a coastal city that is known for its cobblestone squares, parks, architecture, and horse-drawn carriages. My personal favorite trait of the city were the gorgeous trees covered in Spanish moss. We spent the day just walking around and exploring. We saw the spot where part of Forrest Gump was filmed (picture below) and there was even a Shia Labeouf sighting (sadly we didn’t get a picture with him).

On my last day, I got to spend only a few quick hours in Atlanta before flying back to Chicago so I walked the BeltLine trail in Atlanta where I found some neat graffiti. So of course I did a handstand in front of it.

Georgia was a great place to relax and have fun with some amazing friends. I definitely have to go back though, considering I didn’t even eat a peach while I was there.
